VENICE Ca.– The Venice Electric Light Parade (VELP) has becomes a cultural institution here in the community every Sunday where hundreds gather at the boardwalk to ride along the bike path to the Santa Monica pier and then wind through the streets of Venice including Rose, Abbot Kinney and back to the bike path to end at Washington Square and the Venice pier.
Led by Marcus Gladney, the bike ride has become a locals favorite as so many residents near and some far meet to show off their “ride” as well as the spectacular attention to the detailed lighting that turns on at dusk making for quite a scene for tourists and locals alike who snap videos and images of the parade in progress.
Shirts and “hoodies” are available for purchases and all safety guidelines are met ensuring Velper’s of all ages can participate and have a good time too.
There is no fee to ride, and all are invited.
For more information just Google Venice Electric Light Parade or visit Marcus on Facebook!
Here is a video of tonight’s parade at the Venice Circle at Main Street where all riders make our weekly presence at the roundabout.
Meet you neighbors and friends and join VELP every Sunday at sundown.
